How Do I Delete My Account?

 

At Copper, we value your trust and are committed to protecting your privacy. We understand that there might be times when you wish to delete your account, and we want to ensure that the process is straightforward and transparent. Here's what you need to know about deleting your Copper account:

 

Copper Earn

If you're using Copper Earn without Banking and wish to delete your account, please be aware that we have specific procedures in place to maintain the integrity of our system and comply with legal requirements.

To delete your Copper Earn account, please contact our customer support team through the in-app chatbot by entering “delete account” and follow prompts to Customer Service. This is the most secure way to contact us, as you are already securely logged in to your account. 

We will guide you through the process.

 

Waiting Period: To prevent misuse of the platform, we've implemented a 30-day waiting period for deleting Earn profiler information. This period allows us to ensure that account deletions are genuine.

 

Tax Obligations: If you've earned more than $600 in a year through Copper Earn, we're required to issue a W-9 form to meet IRS requirements. Consequently, your personal information, such as name, email, and the amount earned, will be retained for tax purposes. This data will be securely stored and used only if necessary, for instance, if you restart an account within the same tax year.

 

Copper Banking and/or Investing

For Copper Banking users, different regulations apply due to banking laws and requirements.

To delete your Copper Bank account, the adult legal account holder must contact our customer support team. The most secure way to contact us is through the in-app chatbot by entering “delete account” and following the prompts to Customer Service. 

Otherwise, the adult legal account holder can email us from their email on record to support@getcopper.com.

We will guide you through the process.

 

Regulatory Compliance: As a financial institution, we're required to retain banking records for a certain period to comply with bank regulation requirements and retention periods. Rest assured, your data will be securely stored and protected.
