Copper and our partner bank use proprietary and third-party software during the application review process to meet federal requirements and avoid losses that would impact our ability to serve.
Note: Your credit report is not used in your application and any account declination will not impact your credit score.
We understand it can be frustrating to have your application denied and we do thorough reviews before a decision is made.
Here are some common reasons accounts are declined:
- Unable to properly verify personal identification
- Address doesn't match verification systems (this can happen sometimes when you've recently moved and your new address isn't verified connected with you yet)
- Previous checking account closures or obligations that were closed other than by your request
- Attempt to open a high number of checking accounts in the last year
